Remembering J.D. (Sandy) McClatchy

With much sadness, we announce the loss of J.D. (Sandy) McClatchy, prized poet, editor, translator, opera librettist, and longtime friend of Bogliasco.

Thank You to our 2017 Donors!

We are deeply grateful to the 128 individuals who supported the Foundation in 2017. Your contributions help us provide the time and space for Fellows to work in complete freedom and connect with each other across boundaries.

New Exhibit at the Study Center Gallery

Our Study Center Gallery features rotating exhibitions of work that our Fellows developed while in residence. This month, Sandro Del Rosario shares some of the hand-colored images that compose his short film "Lo Sguardo Italiano", which he developed in his 2005 and 2007 residencies.

Support the Bogliasco Foundation by making a donation today.

An American nonprofit with a program in Italy, the Bogliasco Foundation awards one-month Fellowships to individuals of all ages and nationalities who have made significant contributions in the arts and humanities. Fellows live and work in bucolic surroundings on the coast near Genoa, where natural beauty combines with an intimate group setting to encourage inquiry and transformative exchange across all disciplines.

Twice a year, the Foundation welcomes applications from individuals doing creative or scholarly work in the following disciplines: archaeology, architecture, classics, dance, film/video, history, landscape architecture, literature, music, philosophy, theater, and visual arts. The Foundation awards approximately 55 Fellowships each year in seven residency periods that run from September through May.

In 21 years, the Study Center in Bogliasco, Italy, has welcomed over 900 Fellows from 58 different countries. In the 2017-2018 academic year, 59 Fellows from 13 countries will come to Bogliasco to work on projects that enrich the global cultural landscape.

The Foundation frequently hosts special events in Italy and New York featuring projects developed by Fellows in residence.  Bogliasco Fellows also regularly exhibit, perform, and publish their acclaimed work around the globe.
